Port Selection and Menu 1
The Port Select Menu is slightly different.  The ports for all four channels can be selected from this one menu, and the ABCD switch governs which channel port is being selected.  Also, this menu has the ability to put itself on display whenever a port problem is detected.  If the operator requests MENU 1 when all ports are OK, the menu appears for display purposes only to protect the selected ports from accidental alteration.  In this case it takes a press of the A/B key to start editing the port selection data.  The display dialogue will provide a  prompt for this.
At first installation, or when InterCart has no ports and is connected to Clipbox, MENU 1 will open automatically ready for port selection on channel A and report that ports for A, B, C and D have failed.

PORTS:  A = >  <  B =          C =          D =                    [ABCD FAILED]
With the edit markers adjacent channel A, enter the port number for channel A, then press the A/B key and repeat for the other channels.  After the port for channel D has been entered, the menu will wrap round to A again in case any corrections are required or any failures have occurred.  If all is well, the display will appear as follows.
PORTS:  A = >1<  B =  2      C =  3      D =  4
To remove the menu from the display, press ENTER or MENU.

Slave Ports and Menu 2

Menu 2 is not available in Cart mode.  InterCart cannot yet play two ports in sync for video and key operations.

Using the Cart Playlist

A playlist can be downloaded from the Automation System using an RS422 cable and Cart Protocol.  The Automation System can then edit and interrogate the list in order to find out additional information about the items.  Clips can be specified by Cassette ID or by Title, but the standard issue of InterCart restricts the cassette ID to numbers with a maximum of four digits so that clips can be accessed directly by clip number.  Please e-mail Flash if this is a problem.
A playlist can be entered manually into InterCart in the same way that clips are entered into an Interlinear playlist.  Clips can be specified by number or title.  Channels are allocated automatically by InterCart in the order that ports are available, and the allocated channels are indicated on the panel display.
Once InterCart receives a playlist, manually or by download, InterCart polls the Clipbox to find the clips specified in the list.  Where clips are found, a Cart bin number is allocated and the details are entered into the playlist for display and made available to the Automation System should it make Status Requests about the Cart bins.  Where clips are not found because they have not been completed yet, or because they do not have the correct number or title on them, InterCart cannot provide the details and does not allocate a bin.  A warning message is placed on the display and the Automation System is informed that the 'tape' is not ready yet.
InterCart continuously polls Clipbox for all clips that are missing from the playlist.
As soon as a playlist is entered, InterCart searches for the specified clips and loads the first clip for each channel into the relevant output port of Clipbox.  If the first clip is missing, the Clipbox port will remain with no output until the clip is created.  When the clip is created, InterCart will find it by polling and immediately load the clip onto the output ready for playback.
If the clip is created by another device utilising realtime recording, the clip can be ready to play very soon after the recording has started, and can be played out while the recording is still in progress.
