OPERATING A VTR

Using the EDIT key

The EDIT key can perform one of three editing functions depending on the operation of Interlinear:

  • Copying from VTR to Clipbox to load taped material into Clipbox (CLIPBOX mode selected)

  • Copying from Clipbox to VTR to save Clipbox material on tape (VTR mode selected)

  • Copying from Clipbox to Clipbox for audio and video dubbing of material within Clipbox (which is described elsewhere in this manual)

Copying from VTR to Clipbox

First connect a VTR to the Interlinear VTR A port using a 9 pin RS422 remote control cable.  Connect the digital output of the VTR to the input of Clipbox that Interlinear is controlling.  Load the tape into the VTR,  and select remote control mode.  Return to the Interlinear control panel.
All following operations must be carried out at the Interlinear control panel:

  1. Press VTR key

  2. Use Jog and Shuttle knob to locate the start of the desired material on tape

  3. Find exact first frame and press MARK IN key

  4. Use Jog and Shuttle knob to locate the end of the desired material on tape

  5. Find exact last frame and press MARK OUT key

  6. Press CLIPBOX key

  7. Select MENU 8 to set audio channels and compression if required

  8. Press EDIT key

Interlinear will automatically copy the exact marked frames from VTR to Clipbox.  The VTR will preroll five seconds before the desired material and play.  Clipbox will start recording at the exact marked in point and stop recording at the exact marked out point.
