BATTERY POWERED MEMORY

CLEARING MEMORY

The PLAYLISTS and other data are kept in battery powered memory while the power is turned off.  Normally this is very convenient for the user, but when there is a malfunction, program data is not cleared when the power switch is operated to reset Interlinear.  Therefore a special procedure is provided to overcome this problem.
When a full reset is required, all the data in the battery powered memory can be erased using the following procedure:

  1. Select MENU 7  Interlinear display:  CLEAR LIST x ?  ARE YOU SURE ?

  2. Enter password 7777  Interlinear display:  CLEAR ALL LISTS ?  ARE YOU SURE ?

(Note: the password must be entered quickly)

  1. Press ENTER  All lists and battery backed data are erased, and a reset occurs.

DISPOSAL OF LITHIUM BATTERY

The Lithium battery for the memory backup is expected to last for the life of Interlinear, and cannot be recharged or serviced.
In the event of a battery failure, please observe appropriate precautions for handling and disposing of batteries containing Lithium.

  • Do not expose Lithium Battery to temperatures above 70 C, or dispose of by fire.

  • Do not open, puncture, crush or tamper with the battery as this will release the electrolyte and also expose materials which are potentially flammable.

  • Do not force the battery to discharge rapidly - the cell will overheat.

  • Do not charge the battery - the cell will overheat and vent electrolyte.

In the event that a battery is accidentally shorted or starts to heat up, it should be removed to the outdoors or to a well ventilated area to cool down, taking care to protect personnel and surroundings.  Once stabilised to a safe condition, the battery may be disposed of in a normal manner.
Suitable protective clothing should be worn when handling suspect batteries, and if the skin has come into contact with the electrolyte, it should be washed thoroughly with water.
