UPGRADES

Upgrades and custom functions can be delivered to you by e-mail or collected from our website, and programmed into Interlinear using any PC.

Requirements

  • IBM Compatible Personal Computer with standard serial port and Internet connection

  • MSDOS or Windows operating system

  • Serial cable to connect the PC to Interlinear (not supplied)

Serial Cable

The serial cable requires a 9 pin female connector at the Interlinear end, and at the PC end either a 9 or 25 pin female connector, depending on the type of the PC serial port.
When 9 pin connectors are to be used at both ends of the cable, IDC connectors and ribbon cable can be used.

Make up a suitable cable as shown in the table above, using the pin numbers from the appropriate column depending on the type of connector on the PC.
Do not use ready made cables for serial printers or external modems.  These will NOT work.

Files Required

  • FLASHIT.EXE  executable file for PC

  • BOOTCODE.BIN executable file for Interlinear

  • SYQUXXXX.BIN  upgrade file for Interlinear

Method of Operation

  1. Connect the serial cable between the PC and the PROGRAM port of Interlinear

  2. Ensure both PC and Interlinear are powered up and working normally

  3. Ensure that all files required can be found in the same PC directory

  4. Using the DOS prompt, change to the drive and directory where the files can be found, and input the following command line instruction:

FLASHIT  SYQUXXXX  N
   where XXXX is the version number incorporated in the upgrade filename
  and where N is the number of the PC serial port that is connected to Interlinear
