OPTIONAL PC KEYBOARD

Interlinear provides a 5 pin DIN socket for optionally connecting a standard PC/AT keyboard.
This provides a rapid method of entering title data, and in the future will give access to additional functions which may not be available on the Interlinear panel.
The number pad always operates in the NUM LOCK mode, and inputs data into the clip number and timecode fields only.  If the title field is selected when the number pad is used, Interlinear will switch to the clip number field automatically (except when Louth Media ID is in use).
The main section of the keyboard always inputs data into the title field.  If any other field is selected when the main section is used, Interlinear will switch to the title field automatically (except when Louth Media ID is in use).
Four function keys have been designated for fast access to the data fields.

  • F1 toggles the number field.

  • F2 toggles the title field.

  • F3 toggles the start timecode field.

  • F4 toggles the duration timecode field.

The up and down cursor keys control the list cursor on the Interlinear display so that the relevant item in the playlist can be selected.  These cursor keys work in the same way as the Interlinear UP and DOWN keys.
The left and right cursor keys emulate small KNOB movements forwards and back.  These can be used instead of the knob when searching the Clipbox database from the PC keyboard.
The home and end keys work the same way as the Interlinear HOME and END keys.
The insert and delete keys work the same way as the Interlinear INSERT and DELETE keys.
The ALT key brings up the Interlinear Main Menu.  Data may be entered into the menu structure by using the PC keyboard (number pad only), or from the number pad on the Interlinear panel.
The ESC key will release any menu without action.  The ESC key will also close any field that is open for data entry without the new data being stored.  The ESC key cancels the current data entry and data entered is lost.

Future Expansion

We are considering the future use of PC/AT keyboard function keys F5 - F12 and are open to suggestions from users.  E-mail us at:  comments@flashtcs.com
Suggestions so far include:

  • allowing Video/Audio Clip Delete

  • changing Clip Numbers, Titles and Timecode
