NEW LOOP RECORD

This feature only works with Clipbox software versions 3-44 or later.
The purpose of Loop Record is to allow interesting parts of a live recording to be saved as required, while discarding the parts that are of no interest.  To achieve this end, Interlinear records incoming material into a temporary Clipbox file which will be used repeatedly.  When an incident occurs which is interesting, the desired section of the temporary file is saved permanently as a normal clip.  Where nothing of interest happens, the temporary file becomes full and new incoming material is recorded over the oldest material.  This saves space on Clipbox.
For example, if the longest item of interest is expected to run no more than 5 minutes, the Loop Record feature requires only 5 minutes of Clipbox space to start recording.  Recording can continue indefinitely by re-using the same 5 minutes of space.  When something of interest occurs, this can be saved while recording continues.  Further clips can be saved when desired.

Loop Record Setup

Before recording starts, the recording parameters should be setup as follows:

  1. Access MENU 8 by pressing the MENU key and then the 8 key

  2. Select Loop Record mode by pressing 9 key repeatedly until display shows LOOP ON

  3. Select audio channels using keys 1, 2, 3, and 4

  4. Select timecode source by pressing 7 key repeatedly until desired timecode type is shown

  5. Select compressed or uncompressed video recording mode by pressing 8 key

  6. Set the recording duration by pressing the OUT key and entering the duration.  Press ENTER.

Loop Recording Operation

When the setup is complete, press the RECORD key.  Interlinear starts recording the incoming material into a temporary file on Clipbox.  Interlinear's RECORD and MARK IN lights flash slowly and the duration displays zero to indicate that the recording is temporary only.
When an item of interest starts, press MARK IN.  Interlinear's RECORD light goes solid to indicate that material can be saved when desired.  If required, Mark In may be pressed repeatedly to alter the starting point.  Also, the start point may be altered by trimming, for example press the key sequence IN  -  5  0  0  ENTER if you wish to include the five seconds before you pressed Mark In.  After Mark In has been pressed, MARK OUT flashes to remind you to press it when the item of interest finishes.
Now the duration can be seen incrementing on the display.  The start of the item of interest will be safe until the duration is equal to the recording duration that you preset in the recording parameters, and then the start of the item of interest will be erased by the new recording.
If desired, a new  title can be entered while recording is in progress.  Press the TITLE key on the panel (or F2 on PC keyboard) to open the title field and enter the new title from the PC keyboard.
When the item of interest ends, press MARK OUT.  Interlinear will save the item of interest from the Marked In to the Marked Out.  The saved item appears in the Clipbox database as a normal clip for other users to access.
Meanwhile Interlinear continues recording in the temporary file ready to capture the next item.  MARK IN flashes to remind you of this.  Also, Interlinear adds a number to the end of the title field and increments it ready for the next save so that the same title may be used many times.
When all items of interest have occurred, press STOP to finish all recording.  Interlinear will delete the temporary file, leaving only the items of interest saved on Clipbox.
