A/B SWITCH

The A/B Switch feature provides control of two Clipbox ports from one Interlinear panel.  The Clipbox ports can be driven from different playlists, allowing two ports to play two lists out at the same time using one Interlinear panel.

Concept

The A/B key toggles control between Channels A and B by instantly switching Interlinear between the two Clipbox ports and the two playlists.

  • At first, Channel A is selected and can be controlled by Interlinear.

  • When the A/B key is pressed, the A/B key is illuminated in green and Channel B is selected and can be controlled by Interlinear.  The Clipbox port for Channel A continues to operate in play or record, but cannot be controlled by Interlinear at this time.

  • When the A/B key is pressed again, the A/B key is not illuminated and Channel A is selected and can be controlled by Interlinear.  In this case the Clipbox port for Channel B continues to operate without disturbance, but cannot be controlled by Interlinear at this time.

Caution

  • Channel A must not use the same Clipbox port as Channel B.  The controls will interact and unpredictable results will occur.

  • We recommend that Channel A does not use the same playlist as Channel B.  The behaviour of one Channel cannot be predicted if the shared list is edited by the other Channel.  To use the same clips on both Channels, make two similar playlists.  If the same list is used and edited, both Channels must GOTO START before reliable playout is assured.

  • The following special modes are not supported while a Channel is not selected:- Time Lapse Recording, Loop Recording, Loop Playback.

A/B Setup

  1. Select the Clipbox port for Channel A by using MENU 1.

  2. Select the playlist for Channel A by using LOAD LIST, and enter clip data for Channel A.

  3. Press the A/B key to select Channel B.

  4. Select the Clipbox port for Channel B using MENU 1.

  5. Select the playlist for Channel B by using LOAD LIST.  Do not select same list as Channel A.  If the same list must be used, do not edit the list (do not delete, insert, replace clips, or alter the timecodes of any clip) because unsatisfactory playback may occur after the next A/B switch.  To avoid this problem, enter the same data into two playlists, one for each channel.

  6. Enter the clip data for Channel B, and press the A/B key to select Channel A before playing.

A/B Roll

  1. Begin with Interlinear setup as described in the A/B Setup instructions above.

  2. Turn off the Block Play mode on both channels by using MENU 9 0, A/B, MENU 9 0, A/B.

  3. Press PLAY when required.

  4. Select Channel B using the A/B key as soon as Channel A is playing.

  5. Before the clip on Channel A finishes playing, press PLAY to start Channel B playing.

  6. Select Channel A, press NEXT to ready the next clip, and press PLAY before Channel B stops.

A and B Play at the same time

To play both Clipbox ports at the same time, press PLAY, A/B, PLAY as quickly as possible.

Recording

Both Channels can record, but only the selected channel can do Time Lapse or Loop Recording.
