SEARCHING THROUGH ALL CLIPS

A complete search of the Clipbox directory can be performed one clip at a time.  Each search result shows the title and number of the clip found.  When the desired clip is displayed, it is easily entered into the playlist ready to play.  This method will find all clips including those clips that do not have a title or number.  When a clip without a title is found, the message "untitled" may be displayed, or the title field may be blank.  Clips without a number will display the message "----" in the clip number field.

Method

  1. Press the TITLE key (or F2 on the PC keyboard) to open the title field, but do not enter any title data.  This action clears any previous search filter so that the new search which will find all clips.  The previous search position in the directory is maintained to allow for rapid access to adjacent clips by avoiding the need to start the search from the beginning of the directory.

  2. To start the search for the first clip, turn the KNOB forward (or press the right arrow key on the PC keyboard).  Switch the knob to JOG mode for ease of use.  After approximately one second, the title and number of the first clip will be displayed.

  3. To search for the next clip, turn the KNOB forwards a small amount (or press the right arrow key on the PC keyboard).  The new search begins as  the current search result is removed from the display.  Stop turning the knob and wait for the title and number of the next clip to be displayed.

  4. To reverse the search to a previously found clip, turn the KNOB backwards a small amount (or press the left arrow key on the PC keyboard).  The current search result will be removed from the display and replaced with the previous search result.

  5. The forward action can be repeated until all the clips have been found and the end of the Clipbox directory has been reached.  This is indicated by the message "----" in place of the title and number.

  6. To continue the search at the beginning of the Clipbox directory, continue to move forwards past the end of the Clipbox directory.  The Clipbox directory can be considered to be circular, with the "----" message marking the beginning and the end.

  7. To search from the end of the Clipbox directory, move backwards past the beginning of the Clipbox directory.

  8. When the desired clip has been found, press the ENTER key (either on the panel or on the PC keyboard) to load the clip into Interlinear's playlist at the current cursor position.  Interlinear will confirm that the clip was loaded successfully by displaying the timecode of the first frame and the duration of the clip.  If there is a problem with the clip, Interlinear will beep twice, and the timecode and duration will not be displayed.

SEARCHING FOR SPECIFIED CLIPS USING PARTIAL INPUT DATA

When there are many clips, the search will be quicker if some clips can be eliminated from the search.  For this purpose, Interlinear can search using a title filter or (optionally) a Media ID filter.

BY TITLE

  1. Press the TITLE key (or F2 on the PC keyboard) to open the title field.

  2. From the PC keyboard, type the partial data which specifies the filter to use, and then wait.  The search for the first match starts automatically when typing pauses.  Interlinear returns to the beginning of the Clipbox directory and searches forwards until the first match is found.  The search stops and the result is displayed.  If a match is not found, the message "----" is displayed in place of the title and number.

  3. To find subsequent matches, turn the knob forwards or press the right arrow key on the PC keyboard.  When all matches have been found, the message "----" is displayed.
